Current State of High-Paying Renters in Solano and Contiguous Counties

 

High-paying renters in Solano County are facing significant financial challenges as rents just keep rising. To afford the average monthly rent of $1,891, renters need to earn $36.36 per hour, which is 2.3 times the state minimum wage.  To afford the rent of $2,800, renters need to earn $53.85 per hour, which is 3.4 times and to afford the rent of $3,800, renters need to earn $73.08 per hour, which is 4.7 times the state minimum wage. Unfortunately, the region is also facing a shortage of affordable housing, which makes co-homebuying multi-units the best new affordable housing alternative on the market.

Predictable Future if No Action is Taken

If no steps are taken to address these issues, the future will likely worsen. Housing costs will continue to rise, and the affordable housing shortage will grow. This will place increasing financial strain on High Rent Paying households, leading to greater rates of homelessness and housing instability.
